19 applicants have declared interest in the national assembly speaker’s seat, with 17 eyeing the senate speaker’s job. Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has applied for both slots in the elections that will be conducted on Thursday once newly elected MPs are sworn in. former Speaker Kenneth Marende has also placed a multi-bet, applying for both positions, while Agano Presidential candidate in the August 9th polls David Mwaure Waihiga has also picked papers to be listed among candidates in the national assembly speaker’s race. National Assembly acting clerk Serah Kioko has a major decision to make, on eligibility of Bungoma senator elect Moses Wetangula to seek the house speaker job.
