2023 BMW XM PREVIEW. | Engine Information | Performance | Battery Consumption |

The BMW XM, the company's newest vehicle, won't enter production until after 2022.

While the exact pricing of the top-of-the-line XM model is unknown, we do know that it will be well into six figures.

Not all of the concept's opulent trimmings, however, will likely make it into the final product from BMW's South Carolina assembly line. One or more of the materials could be a panoramic roof or cloth. Even though BMW will probably use more understated materials in the final product, the beauty of the car's original leather and velvet rear seats cannot be denied.

The enormous curving display in the middle of the dashboard is visible from the passenger's seat on the center console. The BMW iDrive rotary controller, which operates the car's digital instrument cluster and entertainment system, is placed right next to the shifter. Some of the features that come standard in today's vehicles include wireless internet access, high-quality audio, satellite radio, smartphone integration like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.

It is not surprising that the BMW XM's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 will be driven by an electric motor and battery pack; BMW already offers such engines. Reportedly, BMW is developing a car with 750 horsepower. We expected that the XM would reach 60 miles per hour in about three seconds based on data from early prototype test rides in Austria, and those predictions were borne out. Zero to sixty mph times of less than 3.2 seconds place the Lamborghini Urus and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E Hybrid in the same category as other equally competent performance SUVs. The XM's coil-spring suspension system already provides a comfortable ride, but the addition of adjustable dampers and active anti-roll bars only improves things. In the more thrilling Sport mode, even a circuitous trip can be experienced with anticipation.

BMW has been tight-lipped about the size of the battery in this vehicle, but the manufacturer predicts that it will allow for about 30 miles of all-electric driving range. More information on the hybrid's charging time and other features will be forthcoming.
