About a 1960's German Electronics magazine (Funktechnik) and a vague transistor Wien Bridge oscill.

Please read the description/textbox first. In a German 1960’s magazine (“Funktechnik” 1 april 1960) I found a circuit of a Wien Bridge Sine wave oscillator, made with radio tubes. That circuit was tested.

There was also showed in that same 1960’s magazine an “idea” of a transistor circuit (without component values) that could have the same properties…

We all know that the Wien Bridge oscillator (the article in the German Magazine is completely correct, by the way....) gives out pure sine waves.

I was interested and did this first test by re-building that circuit of the 1 April 1960 Funktechnik magazine with transistors, but the success was very limited.

It oscillated, but only produced peak waveforms, no sinewaves at all. So it needs more experiments regarding the supply voltage, the backcoupling setup, the voltage limiter unit (here two antiparallel diodes) etc.

Perhaps in the future I will do more experiments.

In general: that will take too much time and there are nowadays very simple sine wave oscillator circuits with transistors that can do this job easily, so it could be a lot of lost time, anyway.

Lots of (these) oscillator circuits are on my YT Channel, “Radiofun232 on You Tube”.

So this video is a kind of side path that I am not going to walk, only when success pops up easily within a few days and some easy changes in this circuit. In that case I will surely publish it on YT.

Anyway: the waveforms generated by the transistor circuit could be useful, especially to drive HV circuits (HV Transistors or HV Darlingtons).

By changing the 2 central (read: most important) capacitors in the emitter circuit you can go to higher or lower frequencies. These capacitors (non polar) go from the emitter of TS 1 to the emitter of TS 2. And from the emitter of TS 2 to ground, minus.

Here they are both 0,1 uF (=100 N) but when you change the value of the capacitor going from the emitter of TS 1 to the emitter of TS 2 the frequency will change substantially. Say experiment with 50 N or 10 N or 470 N (=0,47 uF).

Perhaps I will do more research on this circuit in the future. I am interested in your experimental results with this circuit.
