In SOUND OFF, we show you exactly what manufacturers fit as a factory sound system, be it the standard system or optional upgrades, and compare those components against aftermarket upgrades.

As part of the comparison we weigh the components, as generally weight gives a good indication of quality, but we also take you through the parts that build each component and the benefits offered in the aftermarket parts, primarily focussing on magnets, cone and speaker construction.

In the Lamborghini Urus, three levels of sound system are available;
- The standard 8 speaker, non-amplified system
- The upgraded Sensonum 17 speaker, amplified system (+ £2900)
- The upgrade Bang & Olufsen 21 speaker, amplified system (+ £4600)
While the upgraded systems to offer more speakers and an increase in power, all options have one thing in common: factory fitted components are low quality, rated to low power outputs, and are not built to be the best car audio components you can get.

This vehicle did not arrive from the factory with either of the upgraded sound systems, so the customer decided to bring the car to us for a huge upgrade in sound, giving this car the system it deserves.

The reason for the lack in quality from stock is due to the construction of the components themselves, as we show you in this video. The stock speakers are all in plastic housings, with paper cones and small, poorly performing ferrite magnets. This is because generic car audio components are designed to be made in large volumes, for as little cost as possible, regardless of the brand name on the sticker.

In this video we compare the factory Lamborghini (VW Audi Group) components against the Audison components we are upgrading the car with, to demonstrate the difference in design, quality and power, all of which will create a phenomenal listening experience for the customer.

In the front end of the car, we are disconnecting the factory dashboard-mounted tweeters, and replacing them with the Audison Thesis Violino tweeter. The Thesis tweeter is one of the best tweeters money can buy, with a powerful neodymium magnet optimising the performance of the voice coil, alongside all of the specifically designed elements of this speaker, from the grilles to the cone to the casing, all of which maximise the performance of this speaker for car audio. We are also placing the Thesis tweeters on axis with custom built a-pillars, so instead of the high frequencies being dispersed by the windscreen, the sound will be directed straight at the occupants.

In the front doors, the factory 8" woofers are being removed, to be replaced with the Audison Thesis Sax 6.5" driver. You might be wondering why we're reducing the speaker size. This is because the performance of the Thesis Sax is top tier, with an incredible level of design to create the best possible sound output, operating at a continuous output of 150w. Compare this to the factory woofer which operates at 20w, and you can already see the improvements will be significant. It is also worth baring in mind that the current woofer also tries to play lower frequencies, in place of having a sub. The Thesis Sax will be focussing more directly on mid-range and mid-bass frequencies, providing more clarity while allowing the bass to be dealt with by the addition of 2 Hertz Mille Legend subwoofers!

In the B-Pillar is the rear tweeter, playing the higher frequencies for rear fill. We are replacing this with the Audison Voce AV1.1 tweeter, which is a level down from Thesis, but is a smaller form factor that allows us to utilise a stock location. The Voce AV1.1 is still a significant increase in component quality, utilising better materials to offer the best output possible from a stock location.

The AV1.1 is compliment by a further set of Audison Thesis Sax woofers in the rear doors, creating a very well rounded sound stage in the cabin of the Urus, with a HUGE increase in clarity, quality and overall volume.

This set up will be compliment by the Hertz Mille Legend subs in custom housings to provide a mind-blowing amount of bass within the Urus, all of which will utilise the incredible power of FOUR Audison Voce class A/B amplifiers to create a listening experience like no other.

For all the details, make sure you stay tuned to the very end of the video!
