Art Harun - Decisions as Dewan Rakyat Speaker done fairly without taking sides

Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun said all his decisions and actions during his tenure as the Dewan Rakyat Speaker for the past two years were done fairly without taking sides.

He insisted he had never supported Pakatan Harapan or Umno, either before or after being appointed as Speaker of the lower house of Parliament from July 13.

He explained that all the decisions and interpretations of the Meeting Rules made as the Dewan Rakyat Speakers were guided by the Federal Constitution and his knowledge of the law.

He said this during the 'The Breakfast Grille' talk show on BFM radio today, Monday, October 17.

He said this when asked of criticism from various parties who were disappointed with some of his actions at the lower house of Parliament.

Asked if he received an offer to contest in GE15, Azhar Azizan gave the impression that he had received an offer informally, but insisted that he would never jump into the political field.
