Audio Description. ATS Testing Ensures Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings Work as Intended

Published
Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS) are designed to cut power on circuits in high fire-risk areas in less than a tenth of second when a fault is detected. The goal of the team is to test the EPSS technology, which reduces ignitions and maintains reliability of our system. Based on the success of an EPSS pilot last year on about 170 circuits where CPUC-reportable ignitions were reduced by 80% in High Fire-Threat Districts when the circuits were enabled, PG&E will significantly expand the use of the safety settings this year.
