Circuit Bending a Classic Drum Machine - Boss DR-55

Published
The Boss DR-55 is a classic analogue drum machine from 1979 or 1980. Who knows. The Internet disagrees. What I do know is that Soft Cell and New Order both used one. I got given this a few years back, and decided to modify it to be a bit more useful in a modern 'hybrid' studio. Here's what I did, and what it now sounds like. A monster.

I've uploaded the stems from this to my Patreon, and will be sharing samples and things there soon: https://www.patreon.com/allmyfriendsaresynths

I got my kick drum mod inspiration from this page: https://musicthing.co.uk/kick-drum-mods-on-a-boss-dr-55-drum-machine/
