Cowes Primary School - Aurora LED Video Wall by Vision One

Published
In May, 2022, the team at Vision One were contacted by Project 12 Architecture regarding system design and technology recommendations for the new Multipurpose Hall at Cowes Primary School. With the delays of the pandemic in mind, this scope saw numerous revisions as the school weighed up the pros and cons of projection, video wall and LED display technology.

As the evaluation process progressed, consideration was given to both dual LED displays (on either side of a fixed basketball ring), or a single, larger LED display in the right-hand-corner of the auditorium.

In January, 2022, Vision One were given the "green light" to begin procuring stock to meet our carefully-curated, single large Aurora LED specificaiton. In May, 2022, together with the "building-arm" of Becon Constructions, Vision One began works at Cowes Primary School.

Vision One Technologies provided a display solution allowing staff to connect and stream video content from either their laptops or alternative HDMI-output devices. A single, large-format 5 metre x 3 metre Aurora Signage LED video display was installed to the right-hand-side of the wall. Boasting an impressive 1680 x 1008 pixel ratio via 2.97PP cabinets, this Aurora LED Screen can easily achieve HD and FHD resolutions. With brightness levels exceeding 1250 NITS, the FPR range is ideally suited to replace tired, conventional video walls that find it hard to cope under ambient light levels.

The audio in the space featured our familiar Audac KYRA24 Column Speaker specification. Accompanied by 2x Audac BASO12 12" Subwoofers, the KYRA24 design column speaker consists of 24 x 2” high-quality aluminum cone full-range drivers, delivering extraordinary clarity and detailed sound. The overall continuous power handling reaches 240 Watt and the beamwidth of 174° x 7° (-6 dB avg 1 kHz - 4 kHz)* makes it the perfect match for acoustically difficult venues, reducing echo and microphone feedback which optimizes the speech intelligibility in reverberant venues.

To protect the speakers from ball damage and other potential impacts, Vision One liaised with the team at Ultralift Australia to fabricate custom-made cages to suit.

Housed within a Caymon 12RU Equipment Rack, we installed an Audac PRE116 6-Channel Mixer Amplifier and 2x Sennheiser Dual Wireless Handheld Microphone Systems. XS Wireless 1 DUAL is a 2-channel wireless system for singers and presenters. Designed with ease of use in mind, these analog UHF systems feature a sleek dual-channel receiver with built-in antennas and the streamlined interface from Sennheiser's popular XS Wireless 1 series.

Audac power and pre-amplifiers and a NovaStar video wall processor complete the system rack design.
