Emotiva's BasX MR1 Receiver and MC1 Processor promise “serious AV performance at democratic prices”.
Emotiva's BasX MR1 cinema receiver boasts a 13.2-channel processor and “audiophile-quality” 11-channel amplifier in a single chassis. Meanwhile, the BasX MC1 is described as “the processor section of the MR1 designed for system builders with existing power amplifiers or a preference for pre/power systems”.
Emotiva states that the BasX MR1 cinema receiver delivers 100W RMS/channel @ 8 ohms and 130W RMS/channel @ 4 ohms, continuous, all channels driven.
Furthermore, thanks to the MR1's linear Class H power supply (featuring a massive 1,000 VA toroidal transformer), we're told it possesses prodigious reserves of dynamic power at the disposal of the latest Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive surround sound formats.
Line-level audio outputs support up to thirteen main/surround sound channels and two subwoofers (with balanced connections). Also, there are six HDMI inputs, all supporting HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2, 4k UHD video, and HDR (including HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision). In addition, there are twin HDMI 2.0 b-compliant HDMI video outputs, the primary output supporting both ARC and eARC.
Audio inputs include four unbalanced stereo analogue, two S/PDIF coaxial, twin Toslink, USB audio and an integrated Bluetooth receiver with aptX.
A measurement microphone and the latest version of EmoQ room correction come bundled with the MR1, as does a full-function illuminated infrared remote control—the latter offering real-time channel trimming on the fly amongst all the expected controls and options.
The Emotiva BasX MC1 sports a slender (79mm) chassis and features the 13.2 channel AV processing power of the MR1, an identical input/output design, EmoQ automatic room correction (mic included) and the easy control/system configuration options offered by the MR1 receiver.
The Emotiva MR1 and MC1 are available as of later this month, priced at £2,300 and £1,299, respectively.
