Extinction Rebellion activists glue themselves to speaker's chair in House of Commons

Extinction Rebellion protestors have superglued themselves around the speaker's chair in the House of Commons chamber to demand climate action on Friday (2 September).

The demonstrators help banners that said “Citizen’s Assembly Now” and “Let the people decide”.

A Westminster spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident on the Parliamentary Estate and are currently dealing with the situation as a matter of urgency”.

Westminster is currently on parliamentary recess until Wednesday (7 September). Tourists can explore the benches when the chamber is not in use.
