Fabricating CUSTOM A-Pillars For Perfect Sound! | Behind The Sound - Lamborghini Urus

This brand new Lamborghini Urus has been brought in to us for a sound upgrade, as the owner was unable to spec the upgraded sound system from factory due to the ongoing chip shortage. However, as you will see in this series, the aftermarket option blows away any factory upgrade!

The customer picked up their car on a friday, and by the following monday it was at our site ready for its upgrades. This car is receiving an incredible spec of system, with a lot of custom fabrication work that will result in one of the most incredible Urus sound systems you will have seen!

To start with we are stripping out a lot of the Urus, allowing us to remove factory components, run all the new cables and soundproof as much of the vehicle as possible, preparing it not only for the incredible new speakers but also the huge bass upgrade we are fitting!

The factory components in this Urus include a 2-way front end of a tweeter on the dash and an 8" mid-bass speaker in the door, plus a 2-way rear end utilising a tweeter in the b-pillar and a 6.5" mid-bass speaker in the rear door. These components are very poor quality, and not at all powerful, all of which we'll show you in an upcoming SOUND OFF video, so make sure you're subscribed for that!

We are replacing all of these speakers with Audison products. We are fitting the Audison Thesis tweeters in the front, but in custom a-pillars to bring them on axis within the car for a MUCH better sound stage. These will be running fully active alongside the Audison Thesis Sax 6.5" drivers that will be fitted into the front doors. We are also fitting Audison Thesis Sax drivers into the rear doors, creating an incredible sound stage throughout the car, complimented by Audison Voce tweeters hidden in a stock location in the b-pillar.

But we're not stopping there. The Urus did not have a dedicated sub from the factory, so we're adding in some bass for our customer by using not one but TWO Hertz Mille Legend 10" subwoofers, built into bespoke enclosures. This will provide incredible levels of bass throughout the Urus, far beyond any factory option system that would ever be fitted.

All these speakers need a lot of power to run at their best. That's why we're installing not one, not two, but FOUR Audison Voce Class A/B amplifiers into the boot of the Urus, in a really bespoke way that we're going to reveal towards the end of the build, so make sure you are subscribed!
The amplifiers being installed are TWO Audison Voce Quattro 4-channel amplifiers to run the front and rear speakers all fully active, with a channel dedicated to each speaker, and then TWO Audison Voce Uno 1-channel amplifiers, one to run each Hertz Mille Legend sub. This will run the system with an incredible amount of power, sounding absolutely INSANE.

To make sure every speaker performs at its best for the customer, we are utilising the Audison Bit Virtuoso processor, the best processor money can buy, to tune the system. The Bit Virtuoso gives us an incredible level of control over every single channel of amplification to tune it to perfection for the ultimate listening experience, while also allowing us to time-align the system creating the best listening position in the car.

All of this sound will mean a significant amount of soundproofing needs to be installed, so we are fitting 80 sheets into the Urus, covering the doors, boot lid and floor, and cabin floor, which creates a much better environment for the speakers by reflecting the sound waves and keeping them within the vehicle, increasing sound quality. The increased density of panels from the addition of soundproofing also helps massively with the reduction of road noise, and general rattles from vehicle trim. This is an essential part of any system.

Such a substantial build with a level of components as incredible as this requires significant planning, a lot of new, high quality cabling to be run through the vehicle (which is all done alongside manufacturer wiring) and a LOT of fabrication work to have this system looking as good as the Urus itself.
