Friends and relatives of Speaker Oulanyah attend special prayer service

Published
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has called for an amendment to the constitution to create a transition from deputy speaker to the speaker of parliament in the event the office falls vacant.

This, he said, would solve the current moral question of campaigning for speakership as the country mourns the speaker who died in hospital.

The Archbishop led prayers at an event organised to celebrate Jacob Oulanyah's life at his home in Kampala.

Oulanyah’s family have have described his death as a roof that has been blown off the family's house.
