Interview - U2 - Sound System Used at the Sphere - Joe O'Herlihy Interview Part 1

Published
Joe O'Herlihy has been U2's live sound engineer since 1978, and in 2021, he was tasked with testing the Sphere Immersive Sound system in Las Vegas. This system, developed by HOLOPLOT, uses groundbreaking 3D Audio-Beamforming technology to deliver highly precise, clear sound. Joe pushed the system to its limits, testing its durability at extremely high volumes, and found it revolutionary. The Sphere, designed to offer perfect acoustics, allowed U2 to perform without excessively loud sound levels. The system was originally developed for improving public address systems in German airports but has become essential for U2’s innovative live performances.
