Published
If you're dealing with a guitar volume pot cutting out, or if it's totally stopped working, you might need to replace your volume pot. This video shows you how to solder your guitar electronics so you can get rocking again! You'll need a soldering iron and some other tools in order to disconnect and reconnect the guitar electronics. In this video I teach you how to get started with soldering, so if you're totally new to this, you'll have a good shot at getting your guitar fixed! Once you learn to solder, you can DIY repair your guitar, or even attempt mods!

I also explain how to wire a volume pot so you can get a clear understanding of how a volume pot works in a guitar.

Just in case you didn't know, pot is short for potentiometer! These variable resistors help us shape our guitar sound on the fly.

If you're dealing with crackling or excessive hum when playing your guitar, it might not be the volume pot causing this. You have to use your best judgement to try to determine if your guitar volume pot has failed.
