ROGER PENROSE is PHD Professor Emeritus of the Rouse Ball Chair in Mathematics at the University of Oxford. He is the author of The Emperor's New Mind, a best-selling book that in 1990 won the UK COPUS Prize for scientific writing. In 1988, he was awarded the Wolf Prize in Physics jointly with Stephen Hawking, for their contribution to our understanding of the universe, and in 2020 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. By the author, Editora Unesp (Unesp Press) also published O grande, o pequeno e a mente humana (The Large, the Small and the Human Mind).


ROGÉRIO ROSENFELD holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Chicago and is a Professor in the fields of Phenomenology of Elementary Particles and Cosmology at the Theoretical Physics Institute (IFT) of the São Paulo State University. He was Director of the aforementioned Institute, President of the Brazilian Society of Physics, and is currently Vice Director of the ICTP South American Institute for Fundamental Research.
