Overdrive for Violin: Testing the Electronic Audio Experiments Dagger

Published
There's lots of ways to use an overdrive pedal. But what's the right way to use one on electric violin? Here are some of my favorites:
-As an "always on" tone shaper
-As a low gain, "amp-like" bit of grit
-Medium gain chunky stuff for rhythm playing
-Woolly lead tones that are thick and smooth
-Cutting lead tones with lots of treble, to slice through a mix
-Absurd amounts of gain, for fuzz-like sustain

Not every overdrive pedal on the market does all of those things, but as you'll see today, the Electronic Audio Experiments Dagger can do all that and more. A super versatile pedal!

Those reference videos are super useful if you're new to overdrive (and even if you've been using drive pedals for years, you'll probably learn something).
