The Black Mountain Drive is a compact sized, elegant looking guitar amplifier head with an exclusive circuit design. Unlike most handmade amplifiers in the market, this is not a replica of any brand name amp. The preamp circuit is inspired by early Orange/MATAMP amplifiers and it is paired with a single ended output section similar to the ones found in early tweed amps for that saggy and compressed vintage sound.

Our amplifiers are hand built in a small shop in Kelowna, BC - Canada.

We build them one at a time, paying attention to every single detail. They are built like tanks using aerospace grade aluminum for the chassis, high quality components (such as: German made F&T Capacitors) and hand wired using eyelet board like many early fender Amplifiers amplifiers were.

Our cabinets are made of solid wood and finished with oil for a natural look.

The Black Mountain Drive has a tube based "series" effects loop as well as some unique features that make this amplifier an extremely versatile low wattage work horse, perfect for recordings and small venues. You can go from very nice "blackface voiced" cleans to "plexi sounding" overdriven tones by simply pulling the Treble control. You can also pull the Gain control to allow more bass to pass through the first gain stage adding a bit more sag and turning the amp into a fuzz machine.
The amplifier is very responsive to the pick attack and guitar volume.

The low-wattage power amp allows you to crank the amp and get that sweet compressed/saturated sound of the output tube at home or in small venues.

The preamp section uses two 12AX7 tubes and the power amp can deliver either 5 or 10 watts depending on the power tube used. There is a bias switch for you to choose between small and big bottle tubes. You can run it with a 6V6 for 5W or with a 6L6, EL84 or KT77 for 10W.
