Resto/Mod Dynaco SCA80: The Best Amp It Can Be!

Published
I restored and modified a Dynaco SCA80 about two years ago. The old filter capacitor failed this year. Although I had already added a new filter capacitor with about twice the capacitance of the original, I decided to add another to replace the original and approximately quadruple the capacitance for the main power supply. In this video, I cover the replacement of that old capacitor; the slow-start circuit I added to limit the inrush current; the capacitance multiplier I added to the secondary power supply to lower the noise floor; and other work I did. Some would say that the Dynaco has a face only a mother could love. I'll admit this isn't the prettiest amplifier, but this adopting father loves this amp!
