In terms of Sections 59 and 72 of the Constitution, Parliament has a duty to promote public access and meaningful participation in Parliamentary processes and activities. A sum of R500 million is allocated annually for MPs to enable effective constituency work to ensure heightened citizens engagement. Now, this week Parliament is embarking on a programme of reimagining, remodeling and repurposing these Parliamentary Constituency Offices as strategic points for an interaction between the people and Parliament. Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula join us for more light on this.
