Stage Right Monoprice 5 Watt Tube Amplifier Demo (volume 100%)

Published
Finally had a chance to demo this amp with nobody home so I could turn it up to max! It sounds pretty great, though I will say:
1. Some of this is the mic (Audio Technica AT 2035), but I'll probably need to brighten up the sound for my taste. As you can see, I had it at about 10 o'clock on the tone dial, so I have some room to go there, but some users have suggested an EQ pedal to get more control over the tone.
2. Dialing back the volume produces nice clean sounds, but again I feel like I need to boost the highs.
3. I remain utterly convinced that, yep, sorry, we have more or less mastered the emulation of tube sounds. When recording this dry as I am, with a high quality microphone, guess what: it sounds almost exactly like the amp simulation on my old behringer V-Tone amp sim pedal. That isn't to say this amp isn't useful: it is SUPER fun to play this in a small room and it is an awesome platform for coffee shop type guitar work and jamming with friends. It is SUPER light.
4. This amp sounds way better in person, which is the opposite of my Boss Katana Mk. 2. So far, when I record the katana with a microphone, it sounds better than I remember it sounding in the room. The Stage Right amp is the opposite: I *adore* the sound in the room, but am a little less impressed with the recorded sound. That said, I think I can fix that with some tweaks.
