Teaching secondary students to become confident speakers with oracy with Ally Kensington

Published
Gifted speakers are born, and effective speakers are made. But how? Our social and emotional wellbeing relies on being able to express ourselves. Oracy gives us confidence; it enhances our self-esteem and helps us to collaborate with others and become good thinkers, listeners, and speakers. This session looks at different ways of implementing oracy skills with practical activities and extending them beyond the classroom by using curricular and cross-curricular activities in secondary classes. We also focus on how to increase the engagement and productivity of students so that they speak more actively during our lessons.
