Shoutout to everyone on TheGearPage forum, it's been a cool ride waiting for ToneX to come out.

Right now I think ToneX is pretty exceptional when it comes to clean, breakup, low gain and medium gain tones. I've heard some comparisons already putting IK ToneX up against Kemper, Neural DSP, Quad Cortex and Fractal Audio FM3 FM9 AxeFx3 and the results are actually very impressive for a vst guitar amp sim.
Unfortunately for ultra high gain amp camptures this isn't the story. The tones seem to be not as thick and gainy, they all seem to be fairly undergained. The 5150 III patch here seems to do the best job I've heard, but the trade off is that there is a fair amount of high end garbage in the tone that will need EQ'ing out in a mix. The captures that I've seen (and tried) just aren't matching the amps.

I've been putting off getting a kemper or quad cortex because I was hoping something like ToneX would be a silver bullet but if anything ToneX is kind of highlighting how good Kemper / Quad Cortex has done with their products. It's a complicated task to achieve and I would say out of all 3 launches, ToneX has been the one "most" lacking. I am hopeful this will change in the future with updated algorithms and neural updates.

If you have any questions or tips and tricks for IK ToneX capturing then drop a comment or reach out to me! If I can get my captures sounding up to my standard then I'll be sure to do a video on capturing, as well as obviously getting some beefy captures out there for everyone to enjoy.
