The US Speaker of House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has arrived in Taipei, Taiwan. China's foreign ministry hit out at the US over Pelosi's trip to Taiwan, once again warning it would take counter measures. The visit to the self-ruled island, regarded as a breakaway region by Beijing, has heightened tensions across the Taiwan Strait, and raised fears of a military escalation.
