Woo Audio WA6-SE Tube Headphone Amplifier Review

In this review I go through some of the features and benefits of the Woo Audio WA6-SE headphone amplifier, also known as WA6SE. It's a tube amplifier, so you always have the option of tube rolling. Woo Audio has gained great reputation on head-fi.org, where a lot of owners brag about their great love for the Woo product line. Also you seldom see them get sold in the second hand classifieds, which should tell you that these headphone amps are keepers.

The output impedance is measured to around 15 ohm for the low headphone output, and the high headphone output right around 48 ohm. If you believe in NWAvGuy's theory(?), your headphones should have at least 8 times higher impedance than the output to avoid distortion of the audio signal.

Some models have possible upgrades, like a pre out, meaning you could use it as a preamplifier in your stereo setup.

I think this is a great amp, which cost something in the vicinity of $1,250 USD delivered (including Paypal fees).

Here is the head-fi.org appreciation thread, which has in excess of 1500 pages to it(!) right now: http://www.head-fi.org/t/428570/woo-audio-amp-owner-unite this is a great source for recommendations for which tubes to get etc.

Here are a couple of reviews shootouts between different models of Woo Audio tube amps.
